Reimagining Heritage: My Experience at the Singapore–Korea Art Festival 2026
Art has a beautiful way of travelling across cultures without needing translation. The Singapore–Korea Art Festival 2026, held from 20–24 February at The Arts House, Singapore, was a wonderful reminder of how creativity connects people, histories, and traditions.

Curated around the theme “Reimagining Heritage: Tradition Through Contemporary Eyes,” the exhibition brought together artists from Korea and Singapore to explore how cultural heritage can be interpreted through modern artistic perspectives. Each artwork reflected a dialogue between the past and the present—honouring tradition while embracing contemporary expression.

For me, participating in this festival was meaningful on several levels. As an exhibiting artist, it was a privilege to showcase my work in an international setting alongside talented Korean and Singaporean artists especially as I chose the theme of contemporary Ganesh, Indian Spirituality and modern floral artwork. The diversity of artistic voices—from contemporary interpretations of traditional motifs to experimental visual narratives—created a a truly vibrant and inspiring exhibition.

I was also deeply grateful for the opportunity to co-create a cultural bridge with the Singapore Indian Fine Arts Society (SIFAS), bringing a touch of Indian artistic heritage into this cross-cultural exchange between Singapore and Korea and a remarkable meeting ground where cultures interact, inspire, and enrich one another.

The historic Arts House, with its elegant architecture and cultural significance, provided the perfect backdrop for this celebration of artistic dialogue. Walking through Gallery 2, one could feel the spirit of collaboration and curiosity that defined the festival.

My heartfelt thanks to Hongik Art (Seoul) and curator Marie Lee for creating such a thoughtful platform for artistic exchange.

Experiences like this remind me why I paint. Grateful to be a part of this unique event and once again experience the power of art to build bridges, spark conversations, and connect cultures beyond borders.
